So yesterday night I watched Little Singham Aur Kaal Ka Mahajaal Movie and honestly this movie surprised me. I was not expecting much going in. Most Little Singham adventures are about protecting Mirchi Nagar from some villain and then everything goes back to normal. But this one felt different from the start. The scale is much bigger. Instead of dealing with a local threat Little Singham has to face a powerful demon whose goal is to turn the entire Earth into part of the Netherworld. That is a very different kind of story.
What also made me curious is that this is not just a regular episode stretched into movie length. The story actually sends Little Singham across different parts of India on a proper quest. That travel adventure format is something I always enjoy in animated movies so I was interested to see how it worked here.

Little Singham Aur Kaal Ka Mahajaal premiered on 2 June 2018 on Discovery Kids TV channel and currently telecasting on Pogo TV channel as well. The movie was produced by Rohit Shetty under Rohit Shetty Picturez in collaboration with Reliance Animation and Discovery Kids. It was directed by Prakash Satam and the story and script were written by Nidhi Jamwala with screenplay contributions from Bahaish Kapoor and Yash Thakur. Total running time of this movie is around 1 hour 8 minutes (68 minutes). Music was composed by Parikshit Lalwani and Raju Singh.
The voice of Little Singham is provided by Samridhii Shukla. Supporting characters are voiced by Jigna Bharadhwaj, Saumya Daan, Neshma Chemburkar, Ganessh Divekar and Parminder Ghumman.
What Rating Says About the Movie?
Now let me share the rating stats of the movie because this is actually an interesting case. On IMDb the movie sits at just 2.8 out of 10 which looks very low at first glance. But when you check other platforms the picture becomes quite different. On Amazon Prime Video the viewer aggregate is around 4.3 out of 5 which is actually quite good. On Rotten Tomatoes the movie holds an 88 percent Audience Score which is honestly impressive. There is no Tomatometer critic score available since professional critics have not formally reviewed it but the audience response is clearly much more positive than what IMDb shows. On Netflix the movie is rated TV-Y7 meaning it is certified suitable for children aged 7 and above. Netflix no longer uses a star rating system so there is no numerical score there but the TV-Y7 certification itself tells you this is a clean and appropriate watch for kids.
So what does all this mean? Basically the IMDb rating is being pulled down by older viewers who are not really the target audience for this movie. The ratings on other platforms where the actual target audience watches and rates it tell a completely different story. Keep that in mind before judging the movie based on IMDb alone.
What Actually Happens in the Movie?
The movie starts with the introduction of Shambhala, a dark sorcerer who serves a terrifying demon called Kaal Rakshas. Shambhala’s whole purpose is to free Kaal from his magical prison in the Netherworld and bring him back into the real world. And he succeeds very quickly. Kaal is released and the chaos starts almost immediately.
Kaal’s dark forces attack Mirchi Nagar and he casts a powerful magical web called the Mahajaal over the entire city. This is not just a normal spell. It traps the citizens, drains their energy and slowly starts turning Mirchi Nagar into part of the Netherworld itself. The whole city is in danger and there is nothing anyone can do against this kind of magic through normal means.
Little Singham finds out that the only way to stop Kaal and break the Mahajaal is to find three ancient Trinity Stones hidden across different parts of India. These stones together hold the power needed to seal Kaal back into his prison. So with no time to waste Little Singham starts his mission.
The first stone is hidden in Kerala. Little Singham has to travel through dense tropical forests and jungles while dealing with traps and obstacles that Shambhala’s followers have already set up to stop him. There are mythical guardians involved too and some environmental challenges that make the sequence feel like a proper adventure rather than just a fight scene.
After getting the first stone he heads to Rajasthan. Completely different environment here. Scorching desert heat, shifting sands and Shambhala’s dark forces attacking from different angles. The contrast between Kerala’s green jungle setting and Rajasthan’s dry desert atmosphere keeps things visually fresh which I appreciated.
The final location is Gujarat where Little Singham has to navigate through complicated structures and coastal traps to reach the last Trinity Stone.
Throughout all of this his friends Lattu, Babli and Chikki are with him and Professor Avishkar keeps providing guidance. Hawaldaar Karate brings in some comedy moments along the way which lighten the mood nicely during the more intense sequences.
One thing that genuinely kept me interested during the middle portion is that Shambhala never disappears from the story. He keeps showing up using illusions, disguises and magic tricks. Several times he comes very close to stealing the Trinity Stones right after Little Singham manages to find them. This constant interference means there is always something to worry about and the quest never feels too easy or too predictable.
After collecting all three Trinity Stones Little Singham comes back to Mirchi Nagar for the final confrontation. By this point Kaal has become extremely powerful because the Mahajaal has been feeding him energy the whole time. He is much bigger and stronger than before and Little Singham quickly realizes that just fighting him physically is not going to work.
So instead of just punching his way through Little Singham combines the power of all three Trinity Stones and channels everything into his signature Panja Attack. The resulting blast of positive energy destroys the Mahajaal, breaks Kaal’s dark magic completely and seals him back into the Netherworld. Mirchi Nagar is saved. Peace returns. Everyone is fine.
What I Felt While Watching this Movie?
The story of this movie is genuinely its strongest point. Sending Little Singham across Kerala, Rajasthan and Gujarat instead of keeping everything in Mirchi Nagar was a smart decision. It makes the movie feel like a real adventure and each location has its own distinct look and feel. That variety keeps things interesting throughout the middle section which is usually where animated movies start losing energy.
I also liked the Mahajaal concept as a villain’s plan. It is not just about breaking things or kidnapping someone. The whole city is slowly being consumed by dark magic and the clock is ticking. That kind of threat feels bigger and more urgent than most animated movie villains manage to create.
Shambhala being consistently active throughout the quest also helped a lot. In many movies the main villain shows up at the beginning and then disappears until the climax. Here Shambhala keeps interfering at every stage which maintains the tension nicely.
My honest complaint is about Kaal himself. He looks impressive and genuinely intimidating but the movie spends so much time on the quest that Kaal barely gets any real screen time until the very end. For someone who is supposed to be the most terrifying villain in the story he feels a little underdeveloped. A few more scenes showing why Kaal is so feared would have made the final battle feel even more satisfying.
Also some of the location sequences move a bit too quickly. Kerala and Rajasthan in particular had interesting setups that I felt could have been explored a little more before moving on. But overall for the audience this movie was made for it works well. It keeps moving, it looks colourful and the adventure format gives it enough variety to stay entertaining.

Should You Watch this Movie?
If you are a Little Singham fan then yes definitely watch it. This is one of the more ambitious stories in the franchise and the cross country quest format makes it stand out from regular episodes.
For kids it is going to be a fun watch. Good action, magical powers, colourful locations and a clear good versus evil story. Everything they need.
For older viewers I would say go in with the right expectations. This is a children’s animated movie and it does not try to be anything else. If you watch it as that then you will find things to enjoy. If you go in expecting something more complex you will probably be disappointed.
And again please do not let the IMDb rating stop you. An 88 percent Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 4.3 out of 5 on Amazon Prime Video tell a much more accurate story about how real viewers actually feel about this movie.

Little Singham Aur Kaal Ka Mahajaal is a genuinely ambitious animated movie that takes Little Singham beyond Mirchi Nagar and puts him in a much larger battle. The Trinity Stone quest, the Mahajaal concept and the travel across different Indian states all come together to make this feel like a proper adventure. It has some weaknesses, mainly Kaal not getting enough screen time and some locations being rushed through. But for what it is trying to do it mostly succeeds.
The ratings across platforms speak for themselves. IMDb may look discouraging but Rotten Tomatoes and Amazon Prime Video ratings show that the people who actually watched this movie for what it is came away happy. That says a lot.
